FAQ
Can anyone become a member?
Yes - our priority is for members to be active participants in the space. Due to the size of the darkroom, membership will be limited to twenty people. We want to work with photographers who experiment to make engaging and challenging art.
We welcome artists who are self-taught and ready to learn - experience is great, but it’s not a requirement.
Why should I consider becoming a member?
Our darkroom is full-spectrum - meaning we have both color and black & white development and print-making equipment. We also have multiple scanners available for your digitization needs. We love the tactile nature of processing and printing film and want to create a community around this practice.
What is the cost of membership?
Membership cost is tiered based on the amount of hours you want in the space.
Unlimited: $115 per month
8 hours: $75 per month
6 hours: $55 per month
Hourly Basis: $15 monthly membership fee + $12 hourly
We will likely offer discounted membership rates for 3 or 6 month commitments.
There will be limited work trade spots available.

What kind of services do you offer?
We are not able to offer film development services at this time. We highly recommend Underdog Film Lab in West Oakland - drop off is available in SF at Glass Key.
Keep an eye out for upcoming programming announcements and the launch of our residency program later this year on Instagram.
